Keempe Drequito, left, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Hilo District Court to manslaughter, first-degree negligent homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal accident and reckless driving. Drequito, 26, is accused of causing a fiery collision May 14 on Highway 130 in Hawaiian Paradise Park that killed 31-year-old Travis Serquina of Keaau. Acting Hilo Circuit Judge Henry Nakamoto ordered Drequito to appear for trial at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 28 and lowered Drequito’s bail from $286,000 to $60,000 on agreement between prosecutors and Drequito’s attorney, Brian De Lima.
